There are two new Star Wars upcoming series that fans are pretty excited to see and those include Star Wars: Ahsoka AND Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Fans are eagerly awaiting what these new adventures will bring, and while the prospect of crossovers and character cameos is exciting, the producer Jon Favreau revealed that these series will be more focused on their titular characters rather than providing overlapping stories.
Set in the same period as The Mandalorian AND Boba Fett’s bookthese new series should offer a fresh perspective on Star Wars universe. During a recent press event to promote The Mandalorian Season 3, Seif Zaki shared Chirping: “Favreau just confirmed that the fourth season of The Mandalorian it is written and they are looking at the art of Doug Chiang. Ahsoka AND Skeleton crew they are both inside [post-production]set in the same time period and may have character crossovers, despite being stories in their own right.”
When asked for clarification on these remarks, Zaki replied: “The way he put it implied that they are all stories in their own right as you don’t need to look at the others to appreciate them, but looking at them all will deepen your appreciation. And i sets are all next to each other during filming and the time frame is the same.”
So what can we expect from Ahsoka AND Skeleton crew? While details have been kept under wraps, Skeleton crew it has been described as “a galactic take on Amblin’s classic 1980s adventure films”. The story will follow four kids from a tiny planet, who end up lost in the Star Wars galaxy and set out on a journey to find their way home. Judah Law is set to star in the series.
As for Ahsokathe story follows Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) as they hunt down Grand Admiral Thrawn in hopes that he will lead them to find the lost Ezra Bridger, the young Jedi who disappeared with Thrawn many years ago.
With both series set in the same time period of The Mandalorian AND Boba Fett’s book, there are crossover opportunities. Even if they aren’t happening now, they could happen in the future. Favreau has previously said, “Each narrator brings their own personality. The groups they’re working on [Skeleton Crew] they are led by Jon Watts, with whom I have collaborated on all the Spider-Man films. This was a really fun moment and the great directors that he’s engaged with also brought their perspectives.”
With talented directors like Jon Watts and Dave Filoni leading the charge on these shows, we’re definitely in for a treat. Ahsoka AND Skeleton crew they are expected to premiere later this year on Disney+.
