Seinfeld it was and still is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. It turned the idea of the modern TV show upside down, and while it started out as “the show about nothing,” it ran for nine seasons and gave us a lot to talk about.
While some might argue that the show’s final season was its weakest, NBC was hoping to squeeze just one more string of episodes out of its stars, and the network was willing to pay an insane amount of money to get it.
In a recent NYPost article, it was reported that NBC has offered the show’s co-creator and star, Jerry Seinfelda staggering $5 million an episode to make a 10th season, but the comic — who already made $1 million an episode in season 9 and was tremendously wealthy — felt he and the show had gone as far as they could go.
Jerry Seinfeld wanted to come out on top and has always been very honest about his feelings and the integrity of his comedy. Just look at his series Comedians in the car having coffee, and you’ll know that he doesn’t mince words. It’s part of the charm about him.
You can’t envy a bunch of actors for not selling out. I love the show they made and appreciate their willingness to get out on time.
