Another week, another episode of the Scene 2 See podcast. I’m your host Valerie Complex, associate editor and writer at Deadline Hollywood. Tonight’s episode is about to get comical Lil Rel Howery.

Now you may be wondering why this is posted on a Thursday morning instead of the usual Tuesday afternoon. The podcast has been moved to Thursday at 11:30 am. Lil Rel Howery is a comedian, actor, writer and producer who has played various roles in film and television.

His breakthrough role as a TSA agent in the Oscar-winning out made him a household name overnight. at the forefront out earned him an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedy Performance in a Motion Picture and an IMAGE Award for Best Supporting Actor.

From there, his career really took off with a co-starring role in a Netflix horror film birdcage, and other movies like Brittany runs a marathon, single man, vacation friendsSix-time Oscar-nominated film Judas and the Black Messiah and countless others.

For television, he served as a producer on his own Fox sitcom, REL. He had a cameo on Issa Rae Uncertain and Lena Waithe Showtime series The Chi. Lil Rel starred in the award-winning NBC comedy series The Carmichael Show as Jerrod Carmichael’s brother, Bobby. Lil Rel also executive produced, wrote and starred in The Happily absurd (Chicago Sun Times) weekly sketch comedy show friends of the people on TruTV. He accomplished so much, but none of it would have been possible if he hadn’t started as a stand-up comedian.

His stand-up special from the beginning, RELEVANT, appeared on Comedy Central in 2015. Executive Produced by Kevin Hart, The Hour was named one of the “10 Best Stand-Up Specials of 2015” by Vulture. His second special to appear on HBO in 2019 and his third show I said it. You will believe it appeared on HBO last month. In his interview, he talks about making his comedy, how careful observation helps him find hilarious material, and why his new comedy special is unlike any other.
