Despite the negative background associated with accusations against Neil Gairan, the fate of the “Zandman” was decided long before. As the co -author of the David S. Goyer series said in an interview with Variety, Netflix initially did not intend to stretch the film adjustment for four seasons – although there was more than enough material for the material.
Goyer explained that the second season was conceived as the final from the start. The reason is the structure of the original comic book: many of the following suddenly are at least connected to the main character or do it in general without his participation.
“When we discussed the continuation, everyone understood:“ What will really make six episodes without Morpheus in general? “He said.
The decision was made two years ago. The team realized that the film adjustment went faster than expected: many comic book chapters were short (each 17 pages), and one episode often immediately left four or five songs. Initially, a size of four seasons was considered, but in the end they decided to end the story with an extensive second one.

The second season is shown in parts: the first six episodes are released on July 3, 2025, another five – 24 July. The last point will be a special song on July 31, dedicated to the sister of the protagonist, Death. It is based on a separate mini-series death: the high costs of living.
Regarding the scandal surrounding GAIMAN, Goyer did not leave the subject:
“This is of course not all easy. I have a great respect for women who find the power to speak with such stories. But Netflix has made this season for two years – and there was a large team, hundreds of people who would not have received if we simply canceled everything.
Most likely there will also be no continuation of the “Zandman” and spin-offs. Previously, Amazon ran the third season of “Good Signs”, limited to a special episode. Disney stopped the film adjustment of the “Book of the Cemetery”. For all the public love for the original, the name of GAIMAN today has become toxic to platforms.
