The flaws of the series remain the same, but I want to turn a blind eye to them.
There are only nine days left until the premiere of the sequel to “House of the Dragon,” which is why the embargo on reviews for the second season has finally been lifted in the West. Reviewers found something to dig into, but there were far more reasons to praise brutal fantasy than before.
The first season was criticized for its downright slow pacing – the action didn’t really start until the final episodes – and the second season took a step forward in this regard. But it is very small.

Critics note the relaxed development of the plot in the first episodes, but do not call them weak, at the same time noting that all the “movement” here will begin long before the finale. The spirit of the Game of Thrones adventure that was so lacking in the previous season is missing here, but in terms of political intrigue and outright cruelty, House of Dragons even surpasses the original.
The opening episode, despite not moving the plot too much, ends up being one of the most dramatic in the history of both series, and reviewers praise the entire season for the unexpected, but very logical deaths of characters you grow attached to.
Additionally, towards the middle, viewers are promised some sort of “stunningly vile” episode, as well as a noticeable increase in screen time for dragons, which wasn’t enough in the first season.
Finally, some critics felt that House of the Dragon was almost on par with Game of Thrones in terms of unexpected plot twists, brutal removal of key characters, and brutality.
“House of Dragons still has flaws the size of Vhagar, but it’s still a hell of a lot of fun to be around,” the New-York Post reviewer concludes.
