Fans of the film with Tom Hardy are not allowed to buy tickets for the premiere.

Judging by the reviews from critics at the Cannes Film Festival, Furiosa is the best action film of this year. And indeed, a new blockbuster in George Miller’s filmography was a great success. Of course, if you don’t compare it to Mad Max.

Compared to the action film with the almost silent Tom Hardy, ‘Furiosa’ may seem the biggest disappointment of the year. Literally the personification of the meme ‘But there were conversations.’ Moreover, not all oddities are noticed the first time.

In fact, it was as if the audience was seeing a miniseries, because the film is divided into five fragments that are not really connected and tell about different periods in the life of the main character. The main idea – taking revenge on Dementus and returning home – is clear, but Taylor-Joy’s character doesn’t seem to be aiming for that.

A significant disadvantage, would you say? Yes! But it gets even worse when you remember the events of the first film.

Furiosa returns home alone in Fury Road, and Dementus doesn’t appear in the film at all, meaning he will definitely be killed off in Furiosa. We have to watch a movie where we already know the ending of the main and side storylines very well.

The problem could be masked by spectacular chases, fight scenes, explosions – everything that was in abundance in the first film, but that’s also the problem. Or rather, there’s plenty of action in ‘Chronicles,’ but it’s made of plastic.

Textured location shooting has given way to bland CGI, which is why picky viewers are likely to notice editing errors, traces of chroma key, or unrealistic car models.

If you don’t compare ‘Furiosa’ to ‘Fury Road’ then it’s a very solid film, but it’s simply impossible not to compare.
