The film opens with Cassandra entering a restaurant and being confronted by the supervillain Zeke, played by Tahar Rahim.
Possessing the same basic powers as Spider-Man and wearing a uniform resembling a dark version of the hero, Zeke begins terrorizing the restaurant.
He and Cassandra immediately get into a vicious fight – and things change quickly when he takes a table knife and plunges it into her face.
Flash to Cassandra outside the restaurant as the audience realizes that the entire fight scene was just her glimpse of the future as she dares to enter the restaurant.
Cassandra chooses a future that ends with a tantalizing whisper of “Let’s try again” before choosing another path.
