Abbey Clancy hugs EastEnders’ Shaun Williamson as she imagines her life without husband Peter Crouch in hilarious new advert

Abbey Clancy hung out with EastEnders star Shaun Williamson as she recreated her life with a new man in a hilarious new advert.

The 37-year-old model imagines what her life would be like if she had ditched her husband Peter Crouch when they met in a Paddy Power Games advert almost 20 years ago.

The tongue-in-cheek video looks at the sliding door moments that can define someone’s life or story, with Abbey taking center stage in the hilarious skit.

As she dreams of what life could have been, she watches as Abbey pursues a romance with Shaun, better known as Barry Evans in EastEnders, rather than Peter.

The clip opens with Abbey next to her former footballer husband Peter, 42, as a voiceover says: “Imagine a life with a new chance, come on, let’s really imagine it!”

Fictional scenes then appear on screen, reinterpreting various points of history and inventions, before showing a very different version of Abbey’s life.

She recreates the moment Abbey met Peter and looks glamorous in a nightclub when Shaun – in a fictional twist – walks up to her and says: “My partner likes you.”

But Abbey takes one look at Peter – he’s hilariously wearing a blonde wig and gives her a cheeky grin – and rejects his advances in rewriting history.

“He’s a bit big, isn’t he? No thanks,” she says as her friends burst into laughter.

The clip then shows a new version of Abbey’s current life, in which she is happily hanging out with Shaun on their sofa, while the two are seen together instead.

While Peter is nowhere to be seen, Shaun can be seen giving the camera a knowing look as Abbey lies under his arm on the couch and snuggles up to him – a fun ending to the ad.

Speaking about promoting Life with More Chances, Peter admitted it was “weird” seeing his wife interact with EastEnders legend Shaun.

He admitted: “I saw Abbey cuddling with Barry [Shaun] was one of the strangest experiences of my life. I stood there and thought to myself: What if this really happened?!”

Abbey also made it clear that she would marry Peter if she had the chance to go back in time, but joked that she could improve his cooking skills.

“I would marry Peter again and again.” Last Christmas we renewed our wedding vows in the Maldives with our family and closest friends. But if I could go back to 20 years ago, I would definitely teach him how to cook and clean a little better,” she joked.

Commenting on the creation of the ad, Shaun said: “I really enjoyed working with Peter and Abbey.” They are such down-to-earth, sweet people. If I had the chance to do it again, I would be happy!’

Recounting his and Abbey’s nightclub meeting, Peter admitted it was very similar to when they first met in the vampire room at Mosquito nightclub in Liverpool.

He said: “The worst thing about this ad is that it is so close to reality.” I had this crazy blonde hair, super baggy jeans, this terrible shirt and these terrible shoes.

“However, I did not follow the original approach.” It was Abbey who came to me first, we started talking and it went from there. I’d like to put that on record.’

In fact, Peter met Abbey in a bar in Liverpool in 2005 while playing as a striker for the city team and they married six years later.

They married at the Stapleford Park Hotel in Leicestershire in June 2011, two years after announcing their engagement.

The couple gave birth to their now 11-year-old daughter Sophia Ruby in March 2011 and have had three more children since their marriage: Liberty (seven), Johnny (four) and Jack (three).

After growing their family and being married for 11 years, Abbey and Peter decided to renew their wedding vows in an intimate ceremony on December 17th.

The couple planned to host the ceremony to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary in 2021, but had to postpone their development plans until a year later due to Covid.

And finally, in December, they tied the knot for the second time on a private island at the Anantara Dhigu Maldives resort in the presence of their four children, Abbey’s mother Karen and friends.

The new Paddy Power Games advert will be broadcast for the first time during Big Brother on ITV2 on Friday 27 October.
