AR cosmetologists are developed by almost all world giants of the beauty industry: L’Oreal, Shiseido and others. As a rule, these are “smart” apps that scan your face, help identify major skin problems and select care. Or we’re talking about more serious attempts to diagnose diseases like skin cancer. The latter includes, for example, the Taiwanese “smart” HiMirror mirror or the Russian Scanderm Pro device.
play and no more
Mobile applications of large conglomerates are a rather dubious thing. Typically, this is one of the ways to sell you a product.

A beautiful application will show futuristic schemes on the uploaded photo and make a decision: this line of our brand definitely suits you.
We have tried such practices and often among the recommendations we come across neutral products that, in theory, will suit both oily and dry, aging and problem skin. Almost like the universal prophecies of fortune-tellers.
The second reason companies develop such programs is because it’s a great way to gather unobtrusive data about their audience. The user answers test questions without hesitation, takes the universal maintenance line as a recommendation, and the brand uses this data in subsequent developments. Pretty harmless, but meaningless to the consumer.
Complete but don’t change
More “smart” and full-fledged tools can really be an alternative to the first consultation with a beautician, but only if you do not have serious complaints.

And it’s clearly not about a smartphone app, it’s about a special device that, by definition, can’t be cheap. Such a device should be equipped with optics, diodes and a galvanometer, which will help determine the level of moisture, elasticity, skin turgor and blood microcirculation. Also, device algorithms must be smart enough to make accurate recommendations based on the analysis performed.
In other words, if you’re willing to do a lot of independent research and spend the same amount on a pocket beautician with artificial intelligence, that makes sense, but still doesn’t preclude consulting an expert.
