“Ghosts” is a big hit in holiday-themed episodic series

ghosts set a viewership record on Thursday with a holiday-themed episode. The hour-long special of the CBS comedy averaged 7 million same-day viewers, according to Nielsen live+ data.

This is a 7% increase over the show’s average viewership in Season 2.

The episode also performed well on social media, generating more than 119 million potential social impressions, the largest total since the second season premiered on Sept. 29, CBS reports. That’s a 22% increase in social impressions week-over-week.

ghosts has been very popular since its launch last year. In September, Season 2 debuted to 6.15 million same-day viewers, winning the half hour and jumping 11% over the Season 1 premiere.

After 35 days of delayed viewing, the season two premiere was able to attract more than 10 million viewers – the only broadcast comedy to do so. Of the top 30 season premieres, the second series was ranked 6th.
