Is your participation this evening out of the friendship of Pierre Palmade?
Muriel Robin: Yes, because I miss Maritie and Gilbert Carpentier’s party days. His performances stunned me and Pierre is definitely the right person to pick up the torch. As time passes, the fact that we are all a little older brings something different. Seeing people over 40, 50 and 60 having fun makes you realize that there is always life, laughter and lightness. Pierre writes very well, so the sketches are very diverse and will be a great show.
Did you participate in the writing of the program?
No, it was Pierre who wrote it himself. I just did Laurel and Hardy. He rules with a masterful hand. I toured mainly with him and Carole Bouquet. The texts are delicious and for me Pierre is the best writer of his generation.
You say the Carpentier shows make you drugged. What memories do you have of him?
I remember back then that artists had no problem with their egos. Some today refuse such publications for fear of tarnishing their image. I don’t have such a problem. At the end of my career, I want to leave this memory that I touched everything to the young people. Weight gain, disguise, etc. I’m not afraid. Maritie and Gilbert Carpentier were the creation of this space of freedom where the greatest, even Johnny Hallyday, came to have fun without fear of ridicule.
Several generations of artists will meet tonight…
Yes, that’s what makes the program so appealing. For example, the idea of crossing Chantal Goya and Christophe Willem, I’ve never seen that! There’s creativity, creativity, and the promise that everyone will have a great evening in front of their TV.
Isn’t the point of this show, and humor in general, to make people want to be with you?
Thats right! We try to have a good time with the federation and people with laughter caused by quality. Being able to be truly funny and surprising today is an added value. I really want to see this show but not alone. I will ask Pierre to meet us on the evening of the broadcast. Laughing together is great, but it has become more and more rare. All I want is for the show to please so there are others and it makes more artists want to join us next time! The more the merrier, right?
