Thor will find himself in some very interesting and heavy situations in Thor: Love and thunder! As he tries to put his superhero life behind him, he gets sucked into a situation where he must save the universe from Gorr the God Butcher. Additionally, Jane returns to her life as The Mighty Thor, and is wielding her old hammer, Mjölnir. There is no doubt that Thor will have all kinds of complicated feelings.
Though he’d love to get his old hammer back, he kicked ass with his awesome Stormbreaker weapon. But it turns out that Stormbreaker will also give Thor some problems. According to the director Taika Waititi, Stormbreaker will have teenage mood swings. He explained:
“Now that relationship, those exes, yeah. That too was something really interesting because in my mind Stormbreaker, because, you remember that Stormbreaker’s handle is made from Groot’s arm. So in a way it’s like it was infused with that and that’s part of that, and Groot is a teenager. And I thought that because the weapon is a young weapon, he should behave like a teenager. And that’s why he’s so undisciplined and unpredictable. “
This is sure to make for some fun moments in Thor’s new story. I love that the battle ax has its own personality quirks. It will make Thor’s journey that much more difficult.
The film sees Thor “on a journey unlike anything he has ever faced – a search for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlisted the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields her magic hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to unravel the mystery of the God Butcher’s revenge and stop him before it’s too late.
The movie stars Chris Hemsworth like Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, aka Mighty Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, director Taika Waititi like Korg, Russell Crowe like Zeus, Chris Pratt as a Star-Lord, Karen Gillan as a Nebula, Dave Battista like Drax, e Pom Clementeeff like Mantis.
Thor: Love and thunder will be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
