Anna Sawai and Aimee Lou Wood will star as Yoko Ono and Pattie Boyd in the new four-part biopic about the legendary band The Beatles. Sam Mendes is directing the project and all episodes are planned to be released in April 2028.

Sawai will appear as John Lennon’s widow. The actor will star alongside Harrison Dickinson, who plays Lennon. Yoko Ono and Lennon were married from 1969 until the musician’s tragic death in 1980.
Wood will portray Pattie Boyd, George Harrison’s first wife. The model met the musician in 1964 and they married two years later. Following the breakup of the Beatles, their marriage gradually disintegrated and they divorced in 1977. Wood has received support from Boyd on social media and hopes to meet him in the future.
The rest of the group will be played by Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney and Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey. Each segment of the film will tell the story from the perspective of a member of the band, allowing viewers to see the legend of The Beatles through each musician’s eyes.

The films are being made with the full cooperation of McCartney, Starr and the Lennon and Harrison families, including the music rights, making the project unique and officially approved. Mendes said he was honored to tell the story of the greatest rock band of all time and show it from a new cinematic perspective.
Let us recall that Anna Sawai rose to fame in Japan as a member of the group Faky, then gained international recognition thanks to the Apple TV+ series “Pachinko.” Aimee Lou Wood is known for her work on Sex Education and the HBO series White Lotus, for which she was nominated for an Emmy.
