In your portrait you said “I’m not coming to Ko-Lanta to do extra things”… How do you see your journey after 35 days of adventure?
Nicholas: No matter what, I am someone who will mark this season with my accent, jokes and strategies. Three months ago, I was reprimanded for these comments, they said, ‘Oh, that’s telling by itself’, they realized that I was telling the truth (laughs). I might be angry because if it weren’t for Olga’s double vote I was almost sure I would have gotten the orientation but the adventure was great, I’m happy.
How did you decide to join Koh-Lanta?
I’ve always been a fan of the show. Due to my professional obligations, I had not registered before. I got the trigger two and a half years ago. I nearly lost my right arm in an operation that got infected. It took a lot of mental work to get rid of it. One evening, I was watching Koh-Lanta with my family and I remember saying to my mom, “I’m going to do this” when my arm was severely damaged! It kind of served as a destination for my rehabilitation.
Your strategy has been strongly stated by Internet users. how do you live
It’s easy to criticize from your seat. Our conditions for survival are very harsh and no one knows how they will react on our behalf. I accept the criticism, it’s normal, you can’t please everyone. For some I am the teaser of the season, for others the strategist, the double agent… I prefer to keep the positive aspect that makes me smile. You should know that on a physical level I was not at 100% of my abilities, due to a muscle problem in the thigh, so I may have bet more on strategy.
Do you understand the anger of some adventurers like Louana or Yannick when they discover your role as a spy?
Yes, everything is understandable, but let’s not forget that this is a game… As if I was going to blame my elimination on Olga or Jean-Charles… No, I just told them “well done! “. It’s so easy to throw everything on my back, I remind you that in assemblies I only have one vote, I do not force anyone’s hand. If one adventurer is eliminated, it means that he has more votes than the other and therefore missed something during his adventure. The ‘haters’ who may have seen themselves in the posts (sic ), but it’s an adventure where you have to go step by step.
How did you approach the board?
I’ve been sweating at every council since reunion (laughs), so I was prepared to leave every time, just in case…
How did you react when you discovered the strategic advantages of Olga and Jean-Charles?
Frankly, I was very surprised at the return. I suspected it was Jean-Charles’ collar because it was too comfortable for his usual demeanor. But who could have expected Olga’s two votes? I have no grudges against them, they were stronger than me, much better for them. I have no regrets either, it’s okay, I’m not leaving a council where everyone hates me, with eight votes against me (laughs).
You often talk about your son Martin (7 years old), has he followed your adventures?
Yes. For any child, his father is the strongest in the world, so seeing me on TV in Koh-Lanta, for him I am the strongest dad in the universe (laughs).
