On Wednesday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson ShowHost and guest Kevin Bacon shared some stories from their early careers.
Clarkson revealed that she didn’t even know the person she was living with when she first moved to Los Angeles.
“I actually moved to LA with a random person I didn’t know,” she told Bacon. “Yeah, she just needed a roommate.” I thought, “I’ll do it,” and moved from Texas to LA with a random stranger.
The deal didn’t last long. Not because of a personality crisis, but because the apartment was destroyed by fire.
“It burned down, so yeah,” Clarkson said. “Then I slept in my car for a few days and then tried for a show with the name ‘American Idol‘, so everything worked out.
If you don’t remember, Clarkson was the winner of the first season of American Idol in 2002.
Bacon said that in his early days he lived in a “flophouse” in New York City.
In 1976, Bacon’s budget for an apartment was $150 a month. He got an offer, but when he looked at the building, it was out of his price range.
Bacon asked a stranger he met while visiting the building if he could move in with him. The man agreed and they lived together for four years.
“I actually had lunch with him the other day,” Bacon said.
