Rachel Smith: 5 things you should know about the former Miss USA hosting New Year’s Eve special on CBS

Rachel Smith, 38, says goodbye to 2023 in style! The TV personality is currently set to co-host the New Year’s Eve live: Nashville’s big party next to Ela Rey on December 31, 2023 and will ring in the new year with lots of entertainment on CBS. Rachel took to Instagram in November to announce that she would be co-hosting with the singer in New York.

“Every great party needs a great host and this one has two! Don’t miss @elleking and @rachelsmithtv at the New Year’s Eve Live: Big Bash from Nashville on Sunday, December 31, starting at 8pm ET/8pm PT on CBS! #CBSNashvilleNYE,” the post’s caption read at the time. Others who will appear during the TV special include Morgan Wallen, Thomas Rhett, Lynyrd SkynyrdAND Lainey Wilson. Before the festivities, below are five things you should know about Rachel!

The now 38-year-old was the Miss USA titleholder in 2007 and later appeared on the reality show. Location of the competition, who documented her experience as a contest winner. Rachel appeared on the show alongside the former Miss Universe Riyo Mori and former Miss Teen USA Katie Blair. At the time, Rachel spoke about her experience on the show during an appearance on The show of bones. “It’s based on the fact that the three of us live together and, at the end of the day, we’re normal girls,” she said at the time of the reality show.

Many years later, in 2019, Rachel joined Entertainment tonight as a correspondent. Most recently, in October 2023, she was named host Entertainment tonight, weekend.. “I have always loved telling Hollywood stories and I am very excited to continue doing so with you two more days a week,” she said at the time. “There’s nothing like juicy celebrity news to get everyone talking, and I can’t wait for ET to dig into every detail this weekend for fans everywhere.”

Not only is she the host of the channel, but Rachel has also interviewed many celebrities including Sara Jessica Parker, Robert de Niro, Jerry Seinfeld, and many others. Rachel also attends many high-profile events through her work, including attending the prestigious Met Gala on several occasions. She also interviewed Rihanna while the pop star appeared on the red carpet at the 2023 gala in May.

Speaking of the “Diamonds” hitmaker, Rachel is a proud RiRi fan! The journalist often shares videos and photographs of her moments with Rihanna on social media. Most recently, for Halloween 2023, Rachel dressed up as pregnant RiRi and showed off Fenty Beauty’s Super Bowl 2023 outfit in Heidi Klumparty in New York.

Previously, in February 2022, Rachel celebrated Rihanna’s birthday with an Instagram tribute of their interviews together. “Some of my favorite moments with my best friend @badgalriri on her birthday. Rachel and her husband recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary last month, and she commemorated the moment with a tribute post online. “Two years to go and many more, Mike Weed!
