There may be nominations for four-legged actors at the Oscars. IFC film company has sent an official letter to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts on behalf of Indy, the dog who starred in the horror movie Through the Eyes of a Dog. According to Variety, the dog wants the possibility of including animals among the Oscar nominations to be considered.

“Dear Academy Members, I am writing this letter to ask you to nominate me for Best Actor at this year’s Oscars. Although my role in “Through a Dog’s Eyes” was welcomed by critics, I was deemed ineligible for the “Best Actor” category. This news feels like someone has pulled my leash harshly. Apparently I am not a good enough boy for you,” the document reads.
In the letter, the authors also mentioned famous films in which animals played iconic roles: “White Fang”, “Free Willy”, “Babe”, “The Birds” and “War Horse”. “Animal actors carried entire emotional arcs and, in some cases, entire series.”

Let us remind you that the plot is about a young man named Todd and his faithful dog Indy. After the death of his grandfather, the hero moves to the country house, ignoring rumors of ghosts. But Todd’s four-legged friend will have to confront an extraterrestrial threat and do everything possible to save his owner from the ghosts and other creatures living in his new home. Will the dog be able to cope with this task?
By the way, the main role in the horror movie was played by director Ben Leonberg’s dog named Indy. The premiere of the horror movie “Through the Eyes of a Dog” at the Russian box office will be held on October 16.
