The premiere of the long-awaited horror series “It: Welcome to Derry” took place a few days ago, but during this time the series managed to garner a record number of views and become one of the top three debuts in the history of the HBO Max streaming service, Deadline reports.

The first episode of It: Welcome to Derry broke the viewing record, attracting approximately 5.7 million viewers in the United States in just three days. Previously, the same success had only been achieved by the Game of Thrones prequel in 2022 and the film adaptation of the post-apocalyptic game The Last of Us in 2023.
The plot of the horror series is based on the cult novel “It” by the “king of horror” Stephen King, which was first published in 1986. The series expands on the story seen in Andres Muschietti’s It and It 2 and tells the backstory of Pennywise, the creepy clown who terrorizes children in their nightmares.
The first season of the horror drama will consist of nine episodes. The first episode was released on October 26, and the premiere of the second episode of the show is scheduled for November 1.
