EXCLUSIVE: Legendary actor, writer, director and producer Sylvester Stallone has signed with UTA to appear in all areas. Stallone moves from CAA.
It comes after the premiere of Slew, the Netflix documentary about Stallone’s life. The movie premiered in Toronto before being released on Netflix earlier this month. Since its debut on the streamer, it has been in Netflix’s global top 10 and is the start of a new career chapter.
This arc involves Stallone continuing to build Balboa Productions and using the platform to produce the next generation of writers, filmmakers and stars. Balboa Productions will work across all media and genres, focusing on stories that are positive and ambitious. Stallone founded the company in 2018, with the first loan to the company founded by Taylor Sheridan Tulsa King. In this series from 101 Studios and Paramount+, Stallone plays mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi, who is released from prison and sent to start a criminal enterprise in Oklahoma. If he succeeds, the Goodfellas of New York will want more control at his expense, and the local criminals won’t be too happy about it either. The drama, which Stallone wrote in his first starring role in a series, is a real crowd pleaser and has been renewed for a second season.
Stallone also signed a first-look deal between Balboa Productions and Amazon Studios through the recently acquired MGM unit. The move reunited Stallone with MGM, where his career began when he realized his chance to make a hit with a knockout win for Best Picture Rocky in 1976.,
Under the multi-year deal with Amazon Studios, Stallone will write, direct, produce and star in film and television projects – both scripted and unscripted – developed by Balboa Productions, which he co-founded with Braden Aftergood. In addition to sequels and sequels to his Rocky Balboa creation, Stallone has starred in blockbuster franchises Rambo And The consumables.
