Benjamin Mendy trial: French international found not guilty of rape and attempted rape

French football player Benjamin Mendy was found not guilty of rape and attempted rape.

The news fell on Friday, July 14. French international footballer Benjamin Mendy was found not guilty of rape and attempted rape by a British court, six months after he was acquitted of six other rape and one sexual assault charges. After nearly 3 years of trial and detention, the Chester court acquitted the former Manchester City player (his contract expired on 30 June, Editor’s note) following the results of the ‘investigation’. After this decision, the British press revealed that the Longjumeau native burst into tears on the dock.

Benjamin Mendy thanks the jurors for focusing on the evidence in this case, rather than the rumors and tropes that have followed this case from the beginning. This is the second time Mr Mendy has been tried and found not guilty by a jury. He is pleased that both judges made the right decisions.”Jenny Wiltshire, Hickman & Rose’s head of serious and general crimes, said on behalf of the actress.

And to add: “It’s been almost three years since the police started investigating this case. Mr. Mendy tried to stay strong, but the process inevitably had a serious impact on him. He thanks everyone who supported him through this ordeal and now asks him to be alone so he can start rebuilding his life.”
