In what mood did you approach this 3rd fight of the masters?

My first trip is still pretty far right now, and even if it’s only from 2021 on TV scale, it’s an eternity. I’ve had many noon masters since then, so I reduced the pressure to tell myself. ‘I must do it’. When I made my first trip, I had more than 100 entries. Battle of the Masters at noon I would be third in the Ranking so I was like ‘Think if I lose in the first round’. There’s still a bit of a silly side to telling yourself “Great… I’m number 3 on TV and I’m losing there”. I was pressured to say to myself that you had to justify… The first year I went to the final against Xavier and the second year I finished fifth, so in the end I was either high enough or low enough. for this third Battle of the MastersI think ‘I already deserved the bonus, that’s enough’. Anyway, I came in a relaxed spirit, I really came to have fun. But it’s true that when you see Xavier or Eric in front of you, you think you’re up against Nadal and Federer (laughs) so I chose not to push myself.

So no extra pressure like #1?

As in all sports, sometimes the world champion loses right from the start. It happens very often at the World Cup, for example, in Germany. Actually the fans will be disappointed and angry, but that’s the game. It depends on the incoming questions, and I especially liked the game mechanics that buzz was introduced this year. It completely changes the mechanics and anyone can qualify or be eliminated, thus reshuffling the cards.

How was meeting with friends?

Always good ! we meet every year 12 cousins. It’s a weekend between us, usually in May, and we spend 3/4 days together. When we met for filming in late June/early July, it wasn’t long before we broke up. All of this adds to a great atmosphere and that’s why we all come back. For example, there are several people who say that they no longer have a chance against Xavier and that when they come back it is mainly their pleasure to meet again.

You reached the final with Stéphane and met the current champion, Céline. What do you think about the nepotism and cheating criticism they received during their participation?

I think we’ve all gotten these criticisms… I remember it since I’ve been actively watching the drama, so for about 4/5 years, everyone has been entitled to these accusations. I think people have figured out what our strengths are and whenever a question like this comes up they say to themselves: “Here it is!”. While it may be exactly the same rate as other questions. For me, 12 beats of noon I find it very generalist and even a logic Junk Trackingi.e. the questions are varied and never three sports questions in a row, three history questions in a row, etc. none. How did you approach the final?

The only pressure I had was for eight people to appear in the daily papers, but when it came to first place, there would only be six people who could play with the celebrities. So from the beginning there was a buzzing round at two win points and therefore the two candidates were eliminated without playing… It’s not even a matter of ego but I thought it would be more fun and shameful to be eliminated. too early. I was well dressed, I wore make up, I came just for this (laughs) and if I was told five minutes later ‘Thanks for coming, you can sit in public’, I would be upset if I saw your friends playing without me. I was pressuring myself to tell myself from the start that I shouldn’t have lost because I really wanted to play. From the moment I managed to press the bell, I was relieved.

You faced Xavier in 2021, weren’t you very disappointed that you didn’t reach the final duel?

obviously? No, because I’ve often said that my passion in life is to lose to Xavier (laughs). It almost always happens to me! I finished third in the semi-finals this year, so I’m still happy. And it’s not that bad because the finale is very stressful and moreover against Xavier. I think “If I just left the stage with honors, it’s not so bad in the end” (laughs). Year after year, it gets harder because there are new midday masters joining the battle. We know that every year a great midday master arrives, which adds more levels. It complicates the game as the production also changes the rules a bit and most of us qualify for the jackpot and in return we are eliminated by the bells at any moment. to remake a finale.
