The next film from DC Studios Supergirl it’s shaping up to be something truly special, and second David Krumholtzfans are ready for a deeper dive into Kryptonian history. The actor, who plays Kara’s father Zor-El, says the film will expand the legacy of the House of El and shed light on its values and complexities.
“It’s very faithful to the graphic novel it’s based on, Woman of Tomorrow,” Krumholtz shared in a recent interview. “Which is great. I’m excited to be the next piece in telling Krypton’s story and further clarify what the House of El is all about.”
With Krumholtz’s Zor-El at the center of that story, audiences could finally see how Kara’s family differed from Jor-El and Lara, especially after James Gunn’s of Superman’s parents in the new DCU continuity.
Krumholtz also confirmed another exciting detail that is sure to get fans talking: “Everyone knows Jason Momoa plays Lobo… he is [the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow] comic plus Lobo.
The film is based on the beloved Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow comic by Tom King AND Bilquis Evelya cosmic adventure that follows Kara as she travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog, only to become embroiled in a revenge-fueled quest alongside a young girl named Ruthye.
Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Eva Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.
There have also been reports about this David CorenswetSuperman will appear in newly filmed scenes.
Fans can’t wait to see Supergirl fly onto the big screen when the film hits theaters on June 26, 2026.
