Who is your character Laure Grenadier?
Cecile Bois: A woman who inherited the passion of her father, a great chef from Lyon. She is very talented and even on her way to being the lead. But a drama overshadowed that blessing: His father, whose star was taken away, committed suicide just as he was about to take hers. We can assume that he felt guilty enough to leave the stove to devote himself to culinary criticism. She is separated from her daughter Amandine’s (Victoria Eber) father, Captain Garnier (Charlie Dupont).
In what situations are they called to team up?
A string of murders has hit the restaurant world. Among the victims is Laure’s uncle, Jérôme Grenadier (Bernard Le Coq), a famous chef. Nicolas Garnier will ask his ex-girlfriend to act as an informant. It won’t be without some friction.
What drew you to this project?
I was offered by Julien Dewolf, a producer whom I love very much and for whom I shot the TV movie You will live my daughter (editor’s note, aired on TF1, September 2018). We had good memories of our cooperation. I was a little withdrawn at first because it was still a cop story. The writers then put on a bit of comedy that wasn’t at all in the beginning. And then it was tough to make a detective TV movie playing a non-police investigator.
How was your collaboration with Charlie Dupont?
I found it great in La Faute à Rousseau (the series aired on France 2 in 2021). He seemed to me enthusiastic, cheerful, lively, intelligent. I thought it would be interesting to compare our two worlds.
do you like food
Nothing more than that. I eat well, I like creative things. I like to cook but it’s not gastronomy, I’m not good enough for that. I’m more interested in sharing and festivities around good food.
What will be the future of Candice Renoir?
The next TV movie is being written. It can be led by Raphaël Lenglet (translator of commissioner Antoine Dumas). In fact, we are already working on a third unit theme.
On February 7, Candice Renoir’s creator and showrunner, Solen Roy-Pagenault, passed away due to illness. What did it represent for you?
He participated in the writing of the next Candice Renoir TV movie. He even signed the last episode of the series in the 10th season. Before I lost a screenwriter, I lost a friend. He was a living soul, challenging, original and uncompromising. Someone I could spend all afternoons with without ever running out of topics. We bring it to life with his works. That’s why I definitely wanted to shoot this single.
Do you have any other projects?
No, I’m going to take a breather. I will take care of myself and my family, devote myself to creative hobbies such as restoring old furniture or painting.
