On February 6, 2023, southern Turkey and northern Syria were shaken by terrible earthquakes. The human and material losses from this cataclysm, the deadliest in centuries, are tragic: more than 50,000 people died and thousands of homes were destroyed. To support the communities affected by this tragedy, France 2 has decided to offer a special live broadcast in collaboration with the Fondation de France.
More than twenty French, Turkish and Syrian artists will perform on the Olympia stage to encourage the French to donate. Among them, viewers will find Patrick Bruel, Zaz, Gims, Mentissa, Yaël Naïm, Chimène Badi, Maxime le Forestier, Fazil Say, Fatma Saïd, Suzane and even Ycare. Hosted by Léa Salamé and Stéphane Bern, this special program was prepared in three weeks by Electron Libre Productions and France Télévisions teams. Despite this short time, the artists did not hesitate to accept the invitation and be there for charity. “Five days later, we have already received ten positive responses. Artists wanted to come for this purpose. They are not there to sell anything, there are no promotions or other interests for them. They come to share their time and talents. it’s just fun“, explains the program’s programmer, Emmanuel Virot. The evening offers beautiful moments of emotion, such as this comment: Everyone screams SOS Mentissa or its revival If love was enough by ZAZ with an unprecedented reissue.
For Yannis Chebbi, producer of Electron Libre – Mediawan, it seemed quite obvious to organize such an evening with France Télévisions. “The mission of the program is to try to collect as many donations as possible for the victims. This is in line with what we can already do for Ukraine, Lebanon or the Yellow Stones. I would like to remind you that these are public service duties. France Télévisions is taking action once again and we are proud to do the will of the group.“, he explains to us. During the evening, viewers will also find reports by the national editorial teams of France Télévisions and the magazine. 13:15 (France 2).
United in the face of the earthquake, it is live on France 2 from 20:40 this Tuesday, March 14th.
