Candace Cameron Bure opens up about “doing away with culture” months after facing backlash over why she left Hallmark for Great American Family.

The Totally alum appeared on the Unapology with Julia Jeffress Sadler Podcast in which she cited how it was her Christian faith that helped her get through difficult times.

“Canceling culture is real and it’s hard,” she said on the Feb. 8 episode of the podcast. “And it’s hard, but listen, I just want to encourage you that you are not alone and that we are many and that together we are always stronger. And you must find your community and know the Word of God.”

Cameron Bure continued: “I think my biggest encouragement is that there’s such a difference in the way it’s expressed when you direct your own actions, you don’t just say what you say, you have to.” goes, and when the truth comes with love and kindness and respect it goes much further.”

After the backlash, Cameron Bure addressed her comments on Instagram, saying: “It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I was intentionally trying to offend and hurt someone. It saddens me that the media often tries to divide us, even on a subject as comforting and joyous as Christmas movies. But given the toxic climate in our culture, this shouldn’t surprise me. We need Christmas more than ever.”
