“The Last Of Us” viewership hits another series high with Episode 4 on HBO

The last of us delivered another series high on Sunday with 7.5 million people tuning in on HBO and HBO Max.

That’s a 17% increase over Episode 3’s 6.4 million viewers, even though Sunday’s episode is neck and neck with the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. This is the second week in a row The last of us had some serious competition after being broadcast on HBO last week during the last half of the East Coast AFC Championship.

The series has had more same-day viewers every week since its debut in January. Sunday night viewership was 60% higher than the same day viewership of the premiere episode.

As the Super Bowl approaches this Sunday, The last of us Fans are in luck as the next episode airs on HBO Max in a few days. The episode will air on the streaming service on Friday at 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT before HBO airs in its regular Sunday slot (which is in direct conflict with the big game).

Based on the PlayStation game, the series takes place 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job quickly turns into a brutal journey as both must cross the United States and rely on each other to survive.

It stars Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman, as well as Melanie Lynskey, Storm Reid, Merle Dandridge, Jeffrey Pierce, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Woodard, Graham Greene, Elaine Miles and Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.

The last of us was written and performed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. It is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint and Naughty Dog. Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan and Rose Lam also produce.
