The research vessel Alexandria is approaching Point Nemo in the South Pacific. Coming out of prison, Arthur continues his scientific research there, 2688 km from the nearest land. He and his team, including his daughter Rachel, have just made a major discovery: an algae powered by a bacterium that could save the planet from climate change. The nightmare begins again when a murder is committed on the ship…
You are the captain of the ship where a research team will have to face a terrible danger… Were you left wondering while watching the 1st season of this Spanish blockbuster?
Thierry Godard: I must admit I missed it! I caught the entire season and found it incredible as I knew I was going to be playing in it. I chained the episodes, I definitely wanted to know the ending.
A thriller with an ecological background: did the cocktail seduce you?
Yes, I was wondering if I would be involved in a shoot of this scale too. It moves in all directions, down to the design of the sets, to the direction of the actors… There was something both very enjoyable and extremely professional. And I loved playing this honest man, full of humanity, torn between scientists’ desire to master the ship and their desire to keep control.
You are shooting in English for the first time in an international production. Did you have stage fright?
When I came among this team of 100 people who all spoke the same language, I felt like a baby… Shooting in English required a lot of effort. In the evening I had only one desire: to be alone in my room. But I love acting in a language that is not mine: I feel like another actor.
