After expanding his role to Nickelodeon Studios in March, Paramount COO Andrew Gumpert is effectively leaving Melrose this week. The announcement was made just this evening by studio boss Brian Robbins.
We hear Gumpert’s departure was amicable, with the manager telling staff in Robbins’ memo (which you can read below), “I’ve been considering the next chapter of my career and I’m excited to see what the future holds. I is confident that this organization will continue to lead the industry.”
Following Gumpert’s departure, Courtney Armstrong, president of business affairs and administration, will assume responsibility for strategic planning and industrial relations, while Randall Baumberger, president of Studio Group, will oversee studio operations. Both will report to Robbins.
While Robbins oversees the Nickelodeon portion of the studio, Gumpert’s departure comes as another part of the Melrose clan is in turmoil with Showtime’s integration into Paramount+ and looming layoffs on that end. There were also series cancellations at Showtime, incl Let the real one in, American gigolo And Three women.
Gumpert joined Paramount in 2017 as COO. Robbins praised Gumpert as an executive who has “successfully strengthened” studio relationships across all aspects of our business, overseeing negotiations with our strategic, creative and financial partners and licensees, and working with our teams to expand our revenue streams and to develop. “
Not only was the manager recognized for playing such an “integral role” in major franchises; Impossible mission, Paw Patrol, Sonic the Hedgehog, star pull, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, boss (with the one from 2022 Independent thinking person) And transformersamong other things, but also because they are “a key proponent” of a forward-thinking corporate culture with advancements in diversity and inclusion in their mandates.
“Having the opportunity to lead and work with all of my wonderful Paramount colleagues has been an extraordinary privilege,” Gumpert also said in a message from Robbins. “Together we achieved great things and I will always be grateful for your cooperation.”
Prior to joining Paramount, Gumpert served as President of Worldwide Business Affairs and Operations for SPE Motion Picture Group, overseeing negotiations for the studio’s productions and the studio’s financial partnerships with companies such as Lonestar Capital, Village Roadshow and MGM, the structured and managed. He began his career as a trial attorney at the law firm Hill, Wynne, Troop and Meisinger.
