In a shocking twist, a tourist visiting Barcelona fell victim to a brazen pickpocket who tried to steal his phone while he was recording an unforgettable moment next to a famous monument.
Christian Camilo Horta, who is believed to be from the US, candidly posed next to the Arc de Triomf in Barcelona, Spain, putting up his phone and setting it up to record a video.
But the footage was soon interrupted by an unexpected addition: an opportunistic thief on a bicycle who quickly approached to grab the phone, only to be caught red-handed while the footage was still being recorded.
Christian, who works as a nurse, posted the surprising footage on his TikTok page @ccamilohd in November 2023.
The video has since been viewed more than 62,000 times and received 70 comments from previous tourists describing their experiences with pickpockets while visiting certain Spanish cities.

A tourist visiting Barcelona fell victim to a brazen pickpocket who tried to steal his phone while recording an unforgettable moment next to a famous monument
The incident, which took place at the historical monument on the promenade of Passeig de Lluís Company, begins with Christian standing a few meters away from his phone, which was supposed to record the health worker posing at the Arc.
Within seconds, the shot shows a man getting on his mint green bike and reaching out to remove the phone from its position.
Blurry footage follows as the phone is thrown around after Christian quickly spots the thief and the two appear to argue about it.
Seconds later, Christian is caught holding the phone and recording his stunned reaction as he nervously laughs as he leaves the scene.
Dozens of people used the comments to share their own stories of valuables stolen in Spanish cities or to warn the nurse against leaving his phone unattended in a country said to be “notorious” for theft.
One person said: “I got robbed in Madrid and the man gave me my wallet back because I didn’t have cash… I said ‘Thank you’ while another commented: ‘There are no tripods in there Europe does not.’ Ok I understand.”
Another wrote: “Someone tried to steal my phone and I grabbed it out of their hands and they looked at me like I was crazy.”
A fourth person warned: “Well, in a country known for pickpocketing, having it out of your pocket makes your life easier,” to which Christian replied: “I did make a cool video of it though.”
