The show posted a cast photo on X (fka Twitter) Monday morning with the caption: “THIS IS A CODE RED STRANGER THINGS 5 has officially started!!”
Production on the fifth season of the Netflix series was about to begin when the WGA strike began on May 2.

The scripts were already ready at this point, but faced with the prospect of filming without writers on set, the creators, executive producers and showrunners of the Duffer Brothers decided to postpone the production, which was then further complicated by the actors ‘s strike which has been delayed.
Matt and Ross Duffer told Deadline last year that a main goal of the final season was to “stick the landing.”
“The characters will already be in action, they’ll already have a purpose and a drive, and I think it will last at least a few hours and give this season a very different feel,” Matt Duffer said at the time. “I’m sure the process will take much longer. It will be similar to The Return of the King with about eight endings.
