Mia Goth still has hope for Marvel’s long-delayed BLADE reboot

Marvel is long overdue Lama the reboot has become something of a mystery in the MCU timeline. With Mahershala Ali ready to fill the role that was also played by Wesley Snipesthe project faced more setbacks than expected.

The project has gone through writers, directors, and story concepts since its announcement in 2019. But despite all the production turbulence, Lama co-star My Gothic is keeping the faith.

In a recent interview with Elle, Goth shared his optimistic outlook on the film’s slow progress: “It’s better that it took the time it had. They want to get it right.”

Hopefully, the extra time taken to bring this film to life will lead to something truly worthy of Blade’s legacy. It would be a shame if they spent all this time on the film and it ended up being bland Lama movie.

When Lama was first announced during Marvel’s 2019 Comic-Con presentation, the reveal of Mahershala Ali as the new Daywalker has fans excited. But, five years later, the vampire-hunting hero has yet to make his MCU debut.

Ironically, Snipes’ original version of Blade has gained more recent attention thanks to the appearance Deadpool and Wolverinewhile Ali’s version appeared only as a voiceover Eternals‘ post-credits scene with Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman.

Behind the scenes, things have been difficult. The original concept, a period story set in the early 20th century, was completely scrapped. The elaborate period costumes that Marvel had already designed reportedly ended up being sold Ryan Cooglerthe movie Sinners.

Since then, the project has been rewritten several times, with Kevin Feige still insisting that the film is very much alive.

Fans remain skeptical, and understandably so, but Goth’s comments suggest the creative team is focused on quality over speed. For now, Marvel fans will just have to wait a little longer to see Ali bring the Daywalker back to life.

Stay tuned for more updates on Blade and any upcoming Marvel films currently in development.
