Brits tired of typically miserable winter weather take note: you can bake in the Egyptian sun for almost the same price as back home for a month.
According to one study, an average two-person UK household spends around £1,553 per month on gas, energy, transport, food and drink in the UK in winter.
And a travel agent reported that two adults could enjoy a 28-day stay at the three-star Amar Sina Egyptian Village on an all-inclusive basis, including flights, for just £75 more.
Located on the coast near the town of Sharm El-Sheikh, the hotel promises “panoramic views” of the Sinai Mountains and features a private beach, outdoor pool, spa and diving center.

Booked through Charitable Travel, the £1,628 trip includes return flights from Gatwick to Sharm El-Sheikh on easyJet, 23kg baggage allowance per person, round-trip transfers, atoll protection and an £81 donation to a charity of your choice.
Meanwhile, the UK bill breakdown, calculated by Experience Egypt using data from NimbleFins and the Office for National Statistics, consists of a food and drink bill of £974, gas and energy of £209 and transport and petrol costs of £370 .
It follows the success of an easyJet deal launched in late 2022, which encouraged Britons to “flee the UK” and leave the country for a month over the winter.
The sold-out 28-day package, priced at £650 per person, included a stay at the five-star Stella Gardens resort in Egypt, with all-inclusive meals and drinks, free spa and fitness facilities and flights.

ACMA accountant Lynn Beattie told easyJet at the time: “The data collected in this study is incredibly insightful and shows how much the average UK household will spend on the most basic living costs.
“While escaping abroad won’t wipe out all our financial obligations, it’s surprising to know that buying an all-inclusive holiday is just as cheap as staying in the UK this winter.”
Thanks to its low cost of living, Egypt has become a popular long-term winter destination, according to Experience Egypt.

It points out that the Egyptian government encourages and facilitates months-long stays at a variety of hotels across the country.
There are direct flights to the resort of Hurghada from London, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham, and flights to Sharm El-Sheikh from London, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow.
