Three Matadors Carried Out on Shoulders in Sanlucar

Matadors Octavio Chacón, Pepe Moral and Daniel Crespo were carried shoulder-high out of the bullring after securing major victories at the Corrida Magallánica in Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

The three fighters shared a triumphant afternoon in the Cádiz province town, facing a very well presented herd of Miura bulls that provided good play throughout the event. Organisers reported an almost full house for the traditional summer fixture.

Chacón received an ovation following an official warning on his first bull before cutting two ears from his second. Moral earned one ear from his opening opponent and added two more from his second appearance. Crespo completed the clean sweep of victories by taking a single ear from each of his two bulls.

Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a coastal municipality in southwestern Andalusia, located along the mouth of the Guadalquivir River in the province of Cádiz. The town holds its annual Corrida Magallánica as a historic celebration, pairing bullfighters with livestock from Miura. Based at the Zahariche estate in Seville, the Miura line is one of the oldest and most legendary bull ranches in Spain, renowned for producing formidable animals. In Spanish bullfighting, earning two ears from a single bull or multiple trophies across an afternoon entitles a matador to be lifted onto the shoulders of the crowd and carried out through the main gate. An official warning, or aviso, is sounded by trumpets if a matador exceeds the permitted time limit to perform the final sword thrust.

Victoriano del Río bulls at Cenicientos fair

In Madrid province, matador Joaquín Galdós secured the sole trophy of the afternoon during the third event of the fair in Cenicientos. Organisers reported an almost full plaza for a contest featuring five bulls from the Victoriano del Río ranch. The livestock were described as very well presented and showing varied play within their brave lineage, with the second and third bulls of the afternoon proving to be the most complete performers of the lot.

Galdós was awarded an ear following his second effort after his first performance ended in silence. Fellow matador Álvaro Lorenzo received a formal salute from the crowd for his first bull before his second bout concluded in silence. José Garrido experienced a quiet afternoon, with both of his appearances ending in silence from the stands.

Cenicientos is a municipality situated in the southwestern region of the Community of Madrid, famous among aficionados for hosting demanding summer bullfights that test both matadors and livestock. The Victoriano del Río ranch, located in Madrid province, is a prominent Spanish ganadería whose bulls are frequently selected for major ferias across the Iberian peninsula.

Mixed success and four ears in Alfaro

Aarón Palacio emerged as the standout performer in Alfaro, cutting four ears during an afternoon of mixed bullfighting in La Rioja. The event drew a half-capacity crowd to witness four bulls for foot fighting from breeder Ángel Gómez Nuñez and one bull designated for horseback fighting from Antonio Bañuelos.

Palacio dominated his two bouts on foot, earning two ears from his first opponent and another two ears from his second. Matador Fabio Jiménez recovered from an initial silence on his first bull to claim two ears from his second effort. In the horseback discipline, rejoneador Roberto Armendáriz earned a single ear from the only bull lidiated on horseback during the event. Reports noted that the livestock exhibited uneven behaviour throughout the afternoon, requiring the fighters to show an attitude that rose above the challenges presented by the animals.

Alfaro is a historic agricultural town located in the La Rioja region of northern Spain, situated near the banks of the Ebro River. Rejoneo is a specialized form of Spanish bullfighting conducted entirely on horseback, where mounted bullfighters, known as rejoneadores, maneuver trained horses while placing darts and lances, in contrast to conventional bullfighting performed on foot.

Diego Ventura earns Great Gate exit in Málaga

Diego Ventura achieved a Great Gate exit in Málaga after cutting two ears during the third event of the city summer fair. The horseback bullfighting spectacle drew a crowd filling nearly three-quarters of the arena capacity for a contest involving livestock from the Los Espartales ranch.

Ventura rebounded from silence on his first bull to take two ears from his second opponent. Portuguese rejoneador Rui Fernandes recorded a silence on his first bull before completing a lap of honor around the ring following his second performance. Local fighter Ferrer Martín made a lap of honor on his own initiative after his first bout and received applause for his second. The herd, which included a reserve bull brought in as the fourth animal of the afternoon, was described as well presented but very tame and generally lacking in brave spirit.

Málaga is a port city located along the Costa del Sol in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia. A Great Gate exit, or Puerta Grande, represents one of the highest honors in bullfighting, allowing a victorious performer to be carried out of the main stadium gates on the shoulders of supporters after securing at least two ears during an event.
