Today Show Hosting Desk

Armytage and Channel Nine reporter Tom Steinfort look set to become the permanent hosts of the Today show following a successful trial on the breakfast program earlier this month.

The hosting duo helped lift the morning broadcast ratings by an impressive 60,000 viewers, helping Channel Nine close the gap on rival Channel Seven morning show Sunrise.

Samantha also went for a sultry look for her hair and make-up, giving her blonde locks some volume by adding extensions

Channel Nine has been trialling replacement presenters since former host Karl Stefanovic left the desk in June after a controversial podcast interview with British activist Tommy Robinson, while co-host Sarah Abo began maternity leave last month.

An industry insider praised the on-screen dynamic between Steinfort and Armytage, telling The Daily Telegraph: "This week was much more of a comfortable watch."

The insider added: "Tom is a great pick, he has a strong work ethic. He is good... His wife is from Sydney, they could easily pack their bags."

Steinfort is well regarded within Network Nine, having previously served as Today newsreader alongside Deborah Knight and Georgie Gardner in 2019 before reporting for news program 60 Minutes. Armytage currently hosts the reality television series The Golden Bachelor.
