Film studio Warner Bros. Pictures has released the trailer for director M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming romantic horror-thriller Remain, starring actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
The upcoming project marks the filmmaker's return to cinema following a three-year break since his last release. Shyamalan wrote the script for the feature film in collaboration with bestselling Christian author Nicholas Sparks, who is known for his romantic fiction.
In the film, Gyllenhaal stars as Tate Gordon, a reclusive architect who moves to a quiet coastal town in order to complete his latest building project. While settling into his new surroundings, he meets a charming young woman named Ren, portrayed by Phoebe Dynevor, who helps him break out of his shell. However, she soon entangles Tate in the center of a deadly secret that hangs over the local community.
Cast and creative team
British actress Phoebe Dynevor, who rose to prominence for her role in the hit television series Bridgerton as well as the movie Bank of Dave, plays opposite Gyllenhaal. Director M. Night Shyamalan also appears on screen, taking on a supporting acting role within the film.
Shyamalan is a veteran director celebrated for creating suspenseful thrillers and supernatural stories featuring unexpected plot twists. His previous directorial credits include high-profile releases such as The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Village, Split, Knock at the Cabin, and Trap.
Sparks is a prominent American romance novelist whose popular books have frequently been adapted into major Hollywood motion pictures. His previously adapted screen works include romantic dramas such as The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, and Message in a Bottle.

Lead actor Gyllenhaal has established a diverse filmography, previously starring in acclaimed titles such as Donnie Darko, Zodiac, Prisoners, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and The Bride!.
According to a statement from film distributor Kinomania Film Distribution, Remain is scheduled to open in Ukrainian cinemas on February 4, 2027.
