Greek singer Ria Ellinidou has postponed her scheduled concert on the island of Salamina as a mark of mourning following a deadly wildfire that struck the region on Sunday, August 16.
The performance, originally set for Tuesday, August 18, has been rescheduled for September 3, 2026, at 9:30 pm at the Evripideio Theatre of Salamina.
The blaze on August 16 claimed the lives of two people and left many others injured across the island.

Organisers from the local Sports Club Aias Salaminas announced the venue change and postponement through an official statement published on their social media accounts.
Ria Ellinidou is a popular Greek singer known for performing contemporary and traditional Greek music. The venue, the Evripideio Theatre of Salamina, is an open-air amphitheatre on the Saronic Gulf island named in honor of the ancient playwright Euripides.
Rescheduled date and ticket validity
In the official statement, representatives from Aias Salaminas explained that moving the concert was a minimum mark of mourning and respect toward fellow citizens who died, suffered injuries, or were tested by the fire.
The organisers acknowledged public reaction to the delay in notifying attendees. They stated that they fully understood the anxiety, disruption, and anger expressed by residents over the delayed announcement.
The club clarified that the delay did not reflect indifference or disrespect toward the tragedy. Representatives said their immediate priority was monitoring dramatic developments and attending to the human aspect of the crisis.
Under emergency conditions, officials said it was not possible to complete all necessary arrangements in time for an earlier official update. They offered a sincere apology for any disturbance caused by the timing of the news.
Call for unity and ticket arrangements
The statement stressed that during such a difficult period there is no room for confrontation, adding that the focus must remain on respect, unity, and mutual support.
Organisers confirmed that all tickets already purchased for the August 18 event will remain valid for the new date on September 3.
Sports Club Aias Salaminas is a longstanding athletic association based on Salamina, an island situated off the coast of Attica near Athens. The club, named after the Homeric hero Ajax, regularly organizes local sporting and cultural events for the island community.
