The first trailer for the upcoming automotive biopic Maserati: The Brothers has been released, giving a first look at stars Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins.
The period drama tells the story of the Maserati family and their journey from humble beginnings in Bologna to international motorsport triumph. Michele Morrone, Salvatore Esposito and Lorenzo De Moor star as brothers Alfieri, Bindo and Carlo Maserati.
In 1914, the three brothers founded the company in a small garage in Bologna. The film focuses on their ambition to become the first Italian motor manufacturer to win the Indianapolis 500, a milestone Maserati ultimately achieved in 1939 and repeated in 1940.
Cast and production details
Al Pacino plays businessman Vincenzo Vaccaro, an ardent supporter of the Maserati family and one of the early investors in the company. Anthony Hopkins stars as one of the earliest financiers who provided backing to the brothers during the formative years of the automaker.
The film also features Andy Garcia and Jessica Alba in its ensemble cast. Production took place in Modena, known as the capital of the Italian automotive industry, as well as at the historic Cinecittà studios in Rome.
Robert Moresco directed the feature from a screenplay written by Amanda Moresco and Stefano Torrisi. Songwriter Diane Warren composed an original song specifically for the film.
The production brings together a lineup of filmmakers and actors with a notable record at the Academy Awards. Pacino and Hopkins are both former winners of the Oscar for Best Actor, with Hopkins winning the award twice during his career.

Director Robert Moresco received the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2005 for Crash. Andy Garcia previously earned an Oscar nomination, while Diane Warren has received 17 competitive Academy Award nominations throughout her career without a victory.
Maserati: The Brothers is produced by The Andrea Iervolino Company and marks the third biographical film from the production house focused on iconic Italian carmakers. Moresco previously directed Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend in 2022, which starred Frank Grillo as Ferruccio Lamborghini, while Michael Mann directed Ferrari, starring Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari.
Producer Andrea Iervolino is already developing a fourth vehicle-focused biopic. The upcoming project, titled Bugatti, will center on the life of pioneering car designer Ettore Bugatti.
