The new star of social networks and restaurants Egg Drop burger: what is it, where to find it and how to cook it yourself

The South Korean vertical burger garners likes and fans in the social networks of restaurants around the world. It has finally arrived in Moscow and we think it will soon be on the menu of all snack bars, hamburgers, sandwiches and restaurants. Let’s talk in detail what it is!

Egg Drop – what is it

The Egg Drop is a vertical burger (or sandwich, whichever you prefer) topped with scrambled eggs, fried bacon, and cheese, flavored with a sweet mayonnaise dressing and sometimes spicy sriracha. Very Asian combination of flavors: sweet bread, sweet sauce – and meat with eggs.

The burger is made from two thick slices of brioche (or any other rich bread) and this is what keeps it from falling apart due to its filling and stability in an upright position. However, the cardboard box in which the burger is packed most often prefers the latter: convenient, aesthetically pleasing and very appetizing!

Where did the Egg Drop come from?

Egg Drop was originally a chain of fast food breakfast restaurants in South Korea that emerged in 2017. They serve many variations of this burger with a variety of fillings (here and fish and shrimp and much more) and toppings (one of the most popular is garlic). Always the main thing: a thick layer of soft sweet bread, scrambled eggs and vertical serving. And, of course, convenience – the Egg Drop can be carried with you and easily eaten on the go or in the office: not a drop of juicy sauce is lost along the way!

Very quickly, locals and tourists formed long queues at Egg Drop establishments. First Korean, then European bloggers praised the burger in every way and said they haven’t had anything juicier for breakfast in a long time!

And then it was covid – and all the gastronomic trends went to TikTok, YouTube and other social networks: you probably remember dalgona coffee and other Korean gastronomic hits of the coronavirus times.

Now the queues are again lining up for a vertical burger, and not only in South Korea, but also in other countries – for example, in England, London.

Where to try a vertical burger in Moscow

So far, you can only find a meal at the Anderson cafe chain—most recently, this egg burger popped up on the breakfast menu in two flavors—with turkey and Caesar dressing, and pepperoni and salsa. But we are sure that the time is not far off when fashion will capture all of gastronomic Moscow, and then Russia – a very convenient, cool and understandable format!
