An amateur do-it-yourself enthusiast explained how he turned a simple second-hand coffee table into an upscale piece of luxury furniture—and it seems like an expensive purchase worth hundreds of dollars.
Sonja of Gold Coast, Queensland, bought the table from Facebook Marketplace for just $30 with a modern vision.
Similar items on the furniture store market sell for $250 to $500.
To start the cycle, Sonja first sanded the tops and backs of the drawers with an electric sander until bare pine was visible.

He then hand-sanded the legs and outside of the table before applying a Dulux paint and $31.90 mold block to the wood to protect the paint.
To create her own watercolor, Sonja then mixed equal parts of $55.50 low-gloss white paint with water and applied it to the table.
He applied three coats of paint until the outside looked completely matte, then painted the inside of the drawers to match.
Materials and supplies were purchased from Bunnings Warehouse.

Sonja was impressed by the growth cycle she went through on her own and explained that the project took eight hours to complete.

How to transform a coffee table?
