More than half of Brits define themselves as adventurous, with young people between 18 and 24 being the most likely age group to do so, but three in ten generally say ‘no’ to opportunities.
Brits are more adventurous at 22, stepping out of their comfort zone when it comes to travel, leisure and fitness.
A study of 2,000 adults found that more than half (54%) would describe themselves as “adventurous”.
But young people between the ages of 18 and 24 are the most likely to apply (79%), those between the ages of 55 and 64 the least likely (33%).
The risks people feel they have taken in life range from booking a last minute vacation (23%) to leaving work without someone else waiting for it (24%).
Others had abseiling adventures (12%), traveling abroad alone (20%), and bathing skinny (12%).
Nearly three-quarters (72%) have done something outside of their comfort zone, such as talking to people they have never talked to before (52%) and doing something on their own (51%).

But many would like to be more adventurous, doing things like moving to another country (11%), skydiving (9%), and starting their own business (8%).
The study, commissioned by Mentos Gum, also found that saying yes to new things makes people excited (36%) and confident (26%), but also worried (32%).
And 30% believe that stepping out of their comfort zone has strengthened their confidence, while one in four felt the need to try something new out of boredom.
Chewing gum brand Kim McMahon said, “It’s great to see how adventurous the adults are. Whether you’re big or small, stepping out of your comfort zone can be daunting, but it can increase your confidence.
“It’s a common refrain that we only regret the things we haven’t done in life, and it’s interesting to see that the older generation in the survey would encourage young people to take advantage of the new opportunities that present themselves.
“We want to help inspire the nation to say yes to more, especially this summer after the last two years: there is no better time.”
The study also revealed that 45% generally accept the opportunities presented to them, while 29% generally choose “no”.

But one in three (34%) wished they had said “yes” more often when they thought about their life.
It also revealed that 29% of people surveyed, via OnePoll, think that caring less about what people think has helped them become more adventurous.
And three in 10 admitted they were more likely to do something bold with others than alone because they were inspired by their friends (29%), partner (27%) or children (22%).
Life experiences also influenced how adventurous or reckless adults were, including becoming parents (24%), graduating (21%), and having health problems (20%).
Hosts Woody and Kleiny, who appear in a video of the chewing gum brand trying to get people to say ‘yes’, said: “We had a blast discovering what adventures await the public this summer: it was a real mix of holidays “. , zip lines and even skydiving.
“People laughed, they worked hard and we made some jokes too.
“Don’t let the fun stop after your twenties – life is 100% more fun when you’re ready to try new things.”
