Hay fever season is the worst.

Most people in the UK will suffer from a runny nose and itchy throat.

Fortunately, there are several remedies to relieve symptoms, such as having more sex.

But there is one trick you can try without having to take off your clothes …

Irish doctor Laura Lenihan shared her advice on treating hay fever and said petroleum jelly could be your lucky charm.

She said Reply live: “Hay fever is a pollen allergy and tends to strike from late March to early September.

“It can get worse at times during this time when the pollen count is higher.

He added: “I often find advice on how to reduce hay fever, how to stay indoors and keep the windows closed, to be very useless.

“Things like that are hard to do, especially in the hot summer months. However, there are some tricks that can help.

“Putting petroleum jelly under your nose is fine because it can catch pollen before it gets into your nostrils.

“Other things, like wearing wrap-around sunglasses, can stop pollen from getting into your eyes and cause itchy and watery eyes.”

The doctor also said it is best to avoid air drying clothes and sheets as they can collect pollen.

Knowing exactly what triggers hay fever is important, he says, because there are different types of pollen.

Victims can speak to a doctor or immunologist to get a proper diagnosis and allergy test.

Regarding the treatment, the doctor said that antihistamines are the “best”, available without a prescription at the pharmacy.

You can also talk to your doctor about prescribed antihistamine and antihistamine nasal sprays.
