Cult director David Lynch did not live three days to see his 79th birthday. In his official statement, his family wrote that there is now a gigantic black hole in the world.
But still, through his creativity, the master preserved his vision, philosophy and ideas for audiences, filmmakers and loved ones. Lynch was a versatile creator and left behind nine books. Including the acclaimed “Catching the Big Fish.” In memory of the director, we have collected some striking quotes from him for you.

“The world is what you are.”
“Without a prepared environment, the resulting inspiration stagnates and decays. And after a while it disappears completely. And in place of an unrealized idea, only mental pain remains.
“Money is a funny thing. The whole point of money is to feel free, but now that I have money, I’ve never felt free. It’s the weirdest thing.”
“Don’t try to fight the darkness. Don’t even worry about him. Just turn on the light and the darkness will disappear. When you turn on the light of pure mind, all negativity will disappear.”

“Life should be beautiful, dazzlingly bright.”
“The director remains the conductor; should not be the first violin. Let the characters suffer.”
“It is good for an artist to know what conflict and stress are. This is a rich source of ideas. But I believe it is impossible to create under stress. Stress stifles creativity. It’s good to understand conflict, but you don’t have to live by it.
“There is a saying: “Look at the donut, not the hole inside.” You see a bagel and you study it; That’s all you can do. You cannot control what is outside of you. Where you can’t reach. But you can devote yourself to work and do everything that depends on you.
“I shaved a mouse once to see what it looked like; it’s very nice.”
“If you stay true to everything you love, you can live in complete harmony with yourself.”
