Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock talked about this at a special screening held in honor of the 30th anniversary of the movie “Speed”. A tragedy almost occurred due to carelessness in the planning of the bus scene.
“We crashed the bus into cars on the street. I remember we were a little underinformed. We were all on a bus by the ocean and all of a sudden we ran into cars. Boom! Boom! Everyone on the bus went crazy. People were screaming,” Reeves told Entertainment Weekly.
Reeves’ reunion with director Jan de Bont and Sandra Bullock marks the trio’s first appearance together since 1994. The film follows LAPD officer Jack Traven (Keanu Reeves) as he tries to save bus passengers, including Bullock’s feisty Annie. Public transportation is bombed by vengeful usurper Howard Payne (the late Dennis Hopper).
