Weird results: Easter eggs we didn’t notice in cartoons as kids

When you feel tired or a little sad, you want to forget about all your problems and dive into childhood. And the best way to feel like a carefree child is to watch cartoons. But sometimes we discover details that we had not noticed before. And many of them are truly shocking and radically change our thoughts about the characters. Heroes we empathize with turn into real villains, and those we dislike evoke sympathy and understanding. Moreover, it often turns out that despite the cute animation, the plot is far from childish.

There are also Easter eggs in cartoons that only a very attentive viewer can notice. And they really allow you to perceive the story on a completely different level.

We have compiled the most controversial moments of cartoons that you may have missed while watching.

“Shrek”

I’m sure you were upset when Fiona chose to remain an ogre instead of a princess? Of course, today such stories that break stereotypes are not uncommon, but in 2001 “Shrek” became a real revolution in the world of animation. There are so many fairy-tale characters here, so it’s easy to get confused.

A thoughtful TikTok user named @q2coo has shared a heartbreaking video of the fate of three bears. In the first shot, they are locked in a cage, but later we see only the sad father and son cuddling by a fire near Shrek’s house, the exile home of the fairytale creatures. And finally, we see a carpet made from the skin of a murdered mother bear lying on the ground in Lord Farquaad’s castle. We admit that we can’t stand it anymore.

“Hercules”

In one of the scenes, the “genius” Hercules poses for the artist in the skin of a killed lion. If you look closely, you can see in him the features of Scar, the main villain of the cartoon “The Lion King”. As we know, he lost the battle with his uncle Simba: he fell from a high cliff, and his crippled body was torn apart by hyenas.

“Three little pigs”

Yes, Disney artists are not faint-hearted if they left such a tricky Easter egg. Of course, as children, the adventures of piglets thrilled us, but in one of the scenes where the characters dance to the sound of the piano, you can learn about the fate of their father – right on the wall hangs a picture of sausages with the title “Dad”.

“Ratatouille”

The story of the cute little mouse who dreams of becoming a chef is a reference to another Pixar film, Finding Nemo. In one of the shots, Remy is eating cheese and a tin can is seen in the background. If you look closely, you can see the signature “Nemo brand”. Thus, we learn what a sad fate the writers prepared for the fish left in the aquarium after little Nemo escaped.

“Coco’s Secret”

In the story, the main character goes to the afterlife on the Day of the Dead and finds his “prodigal” musician father there. At the party, you can see a poster for The Incredibles, which depicts the parents with their children in a bony aesthetic. It looks like the superheroes died on one of the missions and became local stars.

“Cold heart”

Disney animators love to leave Easter eggs for attentive viewers. As we remember, Elsa’s parents lock the palace so that no one can be harmed by her power. During Elsa’s coronation, the palace gates are still open to all residents, and among the guests of the kingdom you can see Rapunzel and her lover Flynn Rider. At the end of the story, Rapunzel loses her curls, so we see her from behind in the same outfit and her dark hair is cut short.

“Monsters company”

One fan theory is that the girl Boo from Monsters Inc. may have Stockholm Syndrome. Putting aside the fact that the monsters are unreal and a figment of her imagination, we can assume that the girl was kidnapped by a man but was caught. The baby may sympathize with her kidnapper because she is stressed and wants to play with him. At the same time, she sometimes wants to run away from him and cry. And in some cases, she imagines herself as the person the monsters are afraid of. Perhaps this is how she coped with the psychological trauma.

According to another version, Boo wanted to see Sally and Mike again when he became an adult. To do this, Boo discovered the secret of moving the door in order to walk in space and time. And … he found himself in the universe of “Braveheart”. But something went wrong, and Boo ended up in the past in Scotland. If you look closely, there is a picture of Sally carved on a tree frame in the witch’s house. It seems that they never met. To prove this theory, viewers pay attention to a detail from the cartoon “Jolly Rex”: there on the edge of the toilet you see a fur mat of the same color as Sally’s skin. Moreover, in “Monsters, Inc.” there is a moment when the monster Randall Boggs tells Sally why it is dangerous to hang out with people: “They skin monsters.” Sally must have entered the wrong door, so Boo never found her. But we still want to believe that this is not true.
