The hottest baby names of 2022 have popped up with a new girl’s name at the top of the list for the first time in seven years.
Ranking fourth in 2021, Isla is the new female name for parents and leaves Charlotte at number one, according to trend watchers Studio McCrindle †
After analyzing top names in Australian states and territories last year, McCrindle named Oliver top boy names for the ninth year in a row.

Australia’s least populated states helped Isla rise to number one as it was the most chosen name in Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory, but cheaper than Charlotte with just 31 cases.
Olivia (3rd) and Amelia (4th) finished in the top four, and Ava (5) is back in the top five since 2019.
For the boys, Oliver was the only name given to more than 2,000 children in 2022, Noah was second again and Jack moved up one spot to third.

Ella was the only female top ten newcomer after climbing 11th in 2021, while traditional names like Henry (4th), William (5th) and Theodore (8th) were popular with men.

While Generation Alpha has yet to be born, there are clear trends when it comes to the most popular baby names for this generation.
In this year’s top 100, almost half (47) of female names were not on the list in 2010, compared to a third of male names (33). This shows that female names tend to be more diverse than male names.
Some of the more popular names that have debuted for girls over the past decade include Hazel, Florence, Daisy, Frankie, Luna, Ayla, Sadie, Billie, Millie, Aurora, and Mila.

Other female names to watch are Remi (which debuted at 73 in 2020 and rose to 60 this year), Maeve (which debuted at 86 in 2020 and rose to 70 this year), and last year debuted at 96. and Delilah. rose to 71).
