On kvass or kefir: where is okroshka in Moscow restaurants?

Summer has come to the city, and with it the desire to replace hot coffee with bumble and soup with okroshka. Undoubtedly, we were most waiting for the appearance of the latter, because what hot season can pass without a discussion about what is the main summer dish – kvass or kefir?

Agree, you can talk about it forever, the main thing is not to argue with your boyfriend when you realize that your tastes absolutely disagree.

In the first days of summer, we tried all the okroshka restaurants in Moscow and collected for you the places where they are best served.

“Matryoshka”

Where else to look for okroshka, if not in a Russian restaurant? Matryoshka took into account the wishes of both parties and serves the main summer soup with both kvass and kefir. The composition also includes quail, eggs, cucumbers, potatoes and radishes. In general, it was both delicious and not like everyone else.

Address: Kutuzovsky prospekt, 2/1s6

“Coffee Craze”

At “Coffeemania” the guests were left with no other choice, and okroshka was made on kvass. She mixed finely chopped cucumber, turkey ham, eggs, potatoes, radishes, scallions, and herbs. Topped it all with mustard and creamy horseradish. It turned out the most traditional recipe possible.

“Northerns”

If you are someone with the same perverse taste preferences as the author of this text, then go to the Severyane restaurant on Bolshaya Nikitskaya – here okroshka is served only in buttermilk. There is only one filling option: crab or bacon. And by the way, the morning after the party, cold buttermilk soup will work better than a double cheeseburger or tom yum.

Address: St. B. Nikitskaya 12

“KM20”

On kvass or kefir: where is okroshka in Moscow restaurants?

In our editorial office there is a local joke about Jean-Paul Bogachev – that’s what we call a person who wakes up in a luxurious state of mind and body. So, if you are suddenly in a similar mood, head to the KM20 patio, where they serve okroshka with crab and sweeten with kvass. Not prosecco of course, but it will work.

Address: Stoleshnikov per., 2

Amy

If you’ve ever wondered if Patrick has an okroshka, the answer is of course yes. Served with crab at Amy Restaurant. Okroshka is poured with kvass or kneaded with sour cream so that it can be eaten like a salad. As they say, choose your fighter.

Address: Spiridonievsky per., 12/9
