Kia has extended its support of the Australian Open until 2028, continuing the brand’s association with the prestigious tennis Grand Slam since 2002. At the 2023 Australian Open (“AO23”), Kia will highlight its vision and vision commitment to sustainable mobilitywhile inspiring tennis fans through the brand goal of ‘Movement Inspires Ideas’.
To sign the renewal of its commitment as title sponsor of the Australian Open and to highlight its role in the AO23, Kia hosted an official car handover ceremony at Melbourne’s Federation Square on January 10. Executives from Kia and Tennis Australia, as well as two-time Australian Open winner and Kia Ambassador, Rafael NadalThey attended the event. During the ceremony, Kia delivered a fleet of 130 vehicles to those responsible for the tournament, including the Carnival minibus, Sorento SUV, Sportage and EV6 electric crossover. These vehicles will be responsible for safe, comfortable and efficient transportation to the players, judges and personalities throughout the tournament (January 16-29).
“The 2023 edition of the Australian Open marks a special moment in Kia’s longstanding relationship with the tournament, as we are pleased to announce the extension of our partnership for another five years, through 2028,” he said. Those who attend the AO23 have the ability to communicate with Kia and learn more about the brand’s commitment to continuing its leadership in sustainable mobility. Kia will be displaying its powerful electric EV6 GT on the newly created Grand Slam Oval stand.
Opened last year in Melbourne Park, the Kia Arena has a capacity of 5,000 spectators and is the fourth largest venue for the tournament. There, fans will have the chance to follow in their hero’s footsteps as part of the interactive game ‘Make your move’. While watching Rafael Nadal in action on a big screen, fans can also try and recreate the moves of the reigning Australian Open champion. In addition, with those steps they will generate electricity on a mat that will be used to power the Kia EV6 that will be part of the AO23 fleet.

In addition to showcasing a series of branded digital content campaigns specially developed during AO23, Kia will also host 20 Rafa Nadal Foundation children at the Kia Clubhouse event. The visit will enable these children to create unforgettable memories of experiences such as watching AO matches at Rod Laver Arena, taking part in a tennis clinic and enjoying various cultural activities in Melbourne.
