Sexual assault charges against Rex Orange County, the English singer-songwriter whose real name is Alexander O’Connor, have been dropped. his trial for an indictment.
O’Connor, 24, was charged with touching a woman without consent six times last June.
In an Instagram post, the singer wrote: “Today all charges against me were dropped. Prosecutors reviewed the evidence and decided there was no point in going to court in this case. All charges were acquitted.
“I have always denied these allegations,” he continued, “and am grateful that the independent evidence has cleared me of any wrongdoing. I have never attacked anyone and do not condone violence or abusive behavior of any kind.”

In the Instagram post, O’Connor also says closed-circuit TV footage obtained by police contradicts the woman’s story, who claimed the singer touched her “leg, neck, back and buttocks.”
“This has been a difficult time for everyone involved and I want to thank the people who have helped me through this, as well as my family and loved ones for their continued support,” O’Connor wrote.
O’Connor canceled his Rex County Orange tour dates last July, writing at the time that he did so “with great sadness” and that the cancellation was “due to unforeseen personal circumstances.”
