LOKI Writer Michael Waldron Reveals Iconic X-MEN Locations That Marvel Wouldn’t Let Him Include in The Void

When Loki The first season took us to the Void, a surreal wasteland at the End of Times where TVA dumps have erased the timelines, it was filled with wild Easter eggs from across the Marvel Multiverse.

There was everything from a fallen Chitauri ship to the skeletal remains of Giant-Man, and even nods to Elektra and Blade. But as it turns out, there was an important Marvel reference that never made it.

During a recent AMA on Reddit, Loki Head writer of the first season Michele Waldron revealed that he originally planned to include an iconic location from X-Men lore within The Void, but Marvel Studios wouldn’t allow it.

“There’s a lot of creative freedom within the MCU. I think Loki is the strangest thing in the world. I can’t think of how many times I’ve been told no. Maybe when I originally wrote a canceled version of the Mojoverse into the Void.”

Waldron wanted to bring the Mojoverse into the mix. For those unfamiliar, the Mojoverse is an extradimensional realm ruled by the grotesque, media-obsessed Mojo.

It is the home of X-Man Longshot and a bizarre race known as the Spineless Ones, who have become addicted to entertainment after being exposed to Earth’s radio and TV signals.

Their warped love of entertainment and fear of humanity made Mojo one of the strangest and most satirical villains in X-Men history. Fans saw this recently X-Men ’97which brought back its twisted brand of televised mayhem.

Why did Marvel put a stop to this? Waldron didn’t say, but it likely had to do with rights issues or uncertainty about how the X-Men would fit into the MCU at the time. Since Disney’s acquisition of Fox, mutants have slowly begun to creep into the larger Marvel story, but even then Loki The first season had been written, those lines were still being drawn.

Waldron finally walked away Loki Second season to focus on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessbut his work with the God of Evil has clearly left an indelible mark. In Lokithe finale of the second season, probably the conclusion of the series, Tom HiddlestonLoki ascended to his new role at the End Times, ensuring the survival of the Multiverse itself.

Loki and the TVA will play a key role Avengers: Judgment Daywhich Waldron is also writing. The film will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
