before the New Year holidays. And if you have not yet figured out where to keep them, our news editor knows a few reasons to pay attention to the Ryazan region. Literally two hours by train – and now you are already in the heart of the “Russian soul”. Today we will tell about it.
The trip was made possible thanks to the Tutu.ru travel service and the Tourist Information Center of the Ryazan Region.

gastronomic diversity
Restaurant “Yes” – good old Patricks, literally in the center of Ryazan, only with notes of the Russian soul (we are talking about this, if you suddenly forgot). It is worth coming to the restaurant at least for Maxim Titov, the chef of the enterprise. He not only treats with his incredible dishes, but also talks about the idea of creation. We managed to taste the bread with “zhizhka” – this is the name of tomato juice, which often contains salt, butter and herbs left over from a summer vegetable salad. Does it look that special? Regular bread. But before we tried it, we heard a story about how Maxim came back from school and ate it on the way. We can say that this is the same bread from childhood. “Yes” for me is a place with history that you can not only hear but also taste.
Since I am a Tatar, it would be a real betrayal not to talk about the “Tatar Settlement” in the city of Kasimov (about the city itself – later). Moreover, it is really delicious here and in the best Tatar traditions. In general, if you want to know what the Tatar soul is made of, welcome to Tatarskaya Sloboda: Kasimov lavash is a pastry made from thin dough with raisins (by the way, it can be found only here in Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan, which Tatars do not have), peremyach – meaty belyash, kesh tele – Thin pieces of deep-fried dough resembling Khvorost dessert and lots of tea!

Nature
If we don’t go to Norway, Norway comes to us. Fishing Village is located in Chumash, Ryazan Region. It’s deserted and quiet and you feel like you’re on a small island – simply the best place to be with yourself and take a break before the year starts. Nearby is a lighthouse that offers incredible views of the area. You look like the hero of the movie “Light Between the Oceans” – needless to say, it looks very beautiful! A little about prices: living in such a house will cost from 17 to 20 thousand rubles per night. Is it worth it? Let everyone decide for himself.

Another place that should be added to the must-visit list is Polyany Ecopark. Why do I focus on natural complexes? It seems to me that the best vacation is spent in silence, alone with yourself and nature. And Polyany Ecopark is a story about space, freedom and tranquility. And here everyone will find something to their liking: there are spas and full body treatments (massages, spa treatments, baths). The best option to thank your body for all the efforts and stories experienced.

Cultural heritage
“Ryazan is the first really good city I’ve ever seen. The words of the first Nobel laureate and physiologist Ivan Petrovich Pavlov, the correct location of the streets, their cleanliness, their beautiful buildings, guest courtyards, shops – all this brought me to extreme delight and amazement, ”says. How the academician lived, what he dreamed of, how he built his business – all the answers can be found here, at the Pavlovsk estate. The tour will not only help you learn about the life of a scientist, but also immerse yourself in the history of the city and its people.
The city is also home to the Perfume Museum of Time, which will tell you the beauty secrets of the last century. We were greeted by the guide Alla Katorova, dressed in an old white collar dress. “If the mirror says you look bad, take a break. Everything is simple. Remember and use,” he gently reminds at the beginning of the meeting.
We learned what earmuffs are (an object that gives the mustache the desired shape and protects them from pollution), the popular hairstyle called a hat among men, and the laws of attractiveness of that period. “For an even fresher skin tone, put raw beef on your face at night – you’ll be like a May rose in the morning,” says Alla about her beauty tips from Lina Cavalieri’s (an Italian) book “The Art of Being Beautiful.” opera singer, considered one of the most beautiful women of the 19th century). In addition to stories about how people take care of themselves, we were told about Maximilian Faktorovich, better known as Max Factor. By the way, she lived in Ryazan for several years and opened her first store in this city, where she sold her own cosmetics: blush, creams, perfumes and wigs.

For those who plan to travel with children, we recommend visiting the Ryazan Museum of Sugar History. The guides are dressed in Russian traditional costumes, they talk to you like a noblewoman, they offer you sweets (not life, it’s literally a fairy tale). Not only will they tell the story of the candy extraction and the creation of the treats, they will also show the birth process of a beloved rooster. By the way, at the end of the meeting, you will have the opportunity to coat the rooster yourself with chocolate.

Ryazan also has its own art museum. Previously, it was the building of the Noble boarding school of the provincial men’s gymnasium (it can be said a holy place). Here you can see the works of Aivazovsky, Savrasov, Levitan, Repin, Serov and other masters.

In addition to Ryazan, we managed to visit the city of Kasimov. It was founded in the XII century, its name is Tatar, but now it is home to about two thousand Tatars out of a total population of 30 thousand. However, the fact that Tatar history continues in it is not as much as the streets of this city tell more than its people.
The main object of the city is the Khan Mosque, an ancient stone temple with a minaret from the 16th century. The situation where the walls are talking to you – just tap. I have visited many mosques and acquaintances in my travels are always special to me. Here it is, the first step, when you just enter, then you look, touch – it’s like getting to know someone who will stay in your memory forever. But it was as if we had always met Khan’s Mosque and had just met after a long separation. The same thing happened in my city. I always knew him but now I’m back.

The second place worth mentioning is the Kasimov Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. Absolute love place – probably because it brings together women who sincerely love their work. Galina Matveeva is a professional weaver. She has been doing crafts for many years and creates scarves, coats, pillows, bags and much more (our colleague could not resist and bought a bag, so part of the city is now walking around Moscow). We even managed to touch the brain of Galina Valentinovna. With the help of a bird we knit a small piece of linen that can be used as a cute home accessory. “All women know how to knit, they just forgot,” says Galina Valentinovna. She looks like that.

So how is the Russian spirit?
